The Village of Marathon City is served by the Marathon School District. The Marathon School District operates a 4K-5 elementary school, a 6th-8th Charter Middle School, and a High School. There is also a 4K thru 8th Catholic School in the district.

Marathon High School is a small school with a large reputation in both academics and athletics. A 2007 National Blue Ribbon School winner, Marathon High Schools rich history of academic success is evident as they have some of the highest test scores in the region, 23 consecutive years qualifying for the Academic Decathlon Team state championships winning 9 championships, placing 1st or 2nd 11 out of 19 years in Math League competition, and having some of the highest ACT scores. Marathon High School also has a long tradition of athletic and co-curricular club excellence with 97 conference championships and 14 state championships. The school has active FBLA, Skills USA, and FFA student organizations and many other clubs and activities for students to take part in.

MAES is a pre 4K-5 Elementary School of 275 students. Students at MAES have a rich history of high student achievement in both math and literacy. Teachers use many innovative research-based strategies in classrooms to engage students in learning and offer a variety of learning experiences.
Marathon Venture Academy (MVA)

Marathon Venture Academy is a 6th-8th charter middle school with an enrollment of 130 students. MVA is an Expeditionary Learning School which teaches content area classes around an interdisciplinary theme in each trimester. Students in MVA each utilize Google Chromebooks throughout the day for purposes of note-taking, organizing, researching, and completing assignments. MVA involves itself daily with character education and service learning components to supplement content area learning.

St. Mary’s Catholic School, operated by St. Mary’s Parish, offers a Catholic education to students from 4 year-old kindergarten through the 8th grade. All children are welcome to learn and grow in the presence of God’s loving care at St. Mary’s. The School, originally called St. Joseph School, has been educating children in the Marathon area for over 120 years.
Post-Secondary Educational Facilities
The Village’s central location also provides access to higher education opportunities for the development of workforce. Within 40 miles of the Village there are 2 state technical colleges, 2 community colleges, 1 four year state university, and 1 two year state university. Through cooperation with these institutions, customized courses and training can be developed to fit the unique needs of your organization.
